Tea Ceremony in the Hall of Compassion

History of Ke Aku A Laka Hula Heiau – Hui Makaʻainana O Makana

Hui Makaʻainana O Makana Hāʻena. We will be learning the chant for Laka, a deity representing nature and hearing the ʻike of our Kūpuna Hula Roselle Beiley, and Kumu Hula Kamealoha Forrest about the manaʻo of Hāʻena and the importance of the wahi pana of this hula heiau. Hui Makaʻainana o Makana hui has a curatorship with the state of about 14 acres from Limahuli Stream to Kēʻē Beach which includes the heiau.
