Sunday, April 19th, 2026 at 10:00 am – Monday, April 20th, 2026 at 12:00 pm

The Hanalei Initiative warmly invites the community to participate in the 2026 Ching Ming Festival, a meaningful gathering honoring Hanalei’s Chinese heritage and ancestral traditions.
This two-day program begins on April 18 with a lecture by Professor Douglas Chong exploring the historical and ceremonial significance of Ching Ming, offering cultural context and insight into this important tradition. On April 19, the community will gather at the Hanalei Chinese Cemetery for the Ching Ming ceremony, a time of remembrance, respect, and renewal of ancestral connections, followed by a shared luncheon.
Through education, ceremony, and community participation, this event seeks to restore and sustain an important Hanalei tradition while strengthening stewardship of this historic cultural site.
