Learn  How  Native Plants  Malama ‘Āina & Kanaka Hawaiʻi

Presenters will share past & current uses for plants & trees as medicinals, food & cultural practice.  Join us as we are inspired and begin to re-patriate natives at Pāʻulaʻula and  your own backyard.

Mike DeMotta, Retired Curator of Native Living Plants Collections, NTBG His experience has shown him that, “understanding Hawaiian values & world view, and his place within it: kuleana & aloha’āina,  is key for bio cultural conservation.”

Sean Kamakea Chun; Laʻau Lapaʻau, renown healing arts practitioner, Hoʻola Lahui in Wailua will share an introduction to native medicinal plants and uses.

Pāʻulaʻula, once a thriving Wahipana & vibrant Royal Kauahale has been sadly neglected, maligned; it’s proud Hawaiian heritage overshadowed by foreign misunderstanding. Now, with Hawaiian name & history restored Friends of King Kaumualiʻi invites the community to learn how to ReConnect & RePatriate Native Plants that once thrived here; to live again at Pāʻulaʻula or your own backyard.  

Keiki to Kupuna, novice, or plant specialist will be inspired  learning to work with natives to 

nurture plant health and your own!
