Songpyeon is a traditional dessert enjoyed during Chuseok, Korea’s mid-autumn harvest festival. Families gather to make songpyeons as a communal activity rooted in Korean culture.
This delicate dessert is gluten-free. Ingredients include Fresh Rice Flour, Salt, Water, Honey, Sesame Seeds, Brown Sugar, and Sesame Oil.
Shana Lee is a Korean American born and raised in Hawai’i. Her journey with Korean desserts began when she first tasted baekseolgi, a fluffy and chewy steamed rice cake. She was fascinated by its delicate simplicity and unique texture.
Shana fell in love with Rice Blossoms’ unique style and modern take on rice cakes, which wonderfully blends tradition with elegance. Discovering Korean desserts’ beauty and rich history has been a heartfelt and gratifying adventure. As part of Rice Blossoms, she is excited to educate and share these delightful creations with the people of Hawai’i. Through each dessert, Shana hopes to bring a little sweetness, a lot of aloha, and the perfect blend of tradition and modern artistry for you to enjoy!
Rice Blossoms is frequently hosted as a pop-up at the Ala Moana Nordstrom, Mori, Anthropologie, and Bloomingdale’s.
