The 35th annual Emalani Festival takes place Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Waimea, Kauai from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Tents with lei making, exhibits, and food surround the performance and seating area for the audience. Hawaiian music begins at 5:00pm. Central to the Festival is the arrival of Queen Emma, her attendant, and guide Kaluahi on horseback at 6:00pm. Protocol ceremonies will pay homage to the Queen and perform for her throughout the night. The queen, in turn, may offer a dance of her own. A declaration to honor the transfer of Kuleana from Hui O Laka to Historic Waimea Theater and Cultural Arts Center will be issued by Emalani. Historically the luau was organized by the town of Waimea to welcome/honor Emalani as she passes through Waimea. Sponsors and Guests are invited to witness a historical event, authentic Hawaiian protocol and genuine Hawaiian cuisine.
