Keokea…On Saturday, June 1st, 7PM, Ebb & Flow Arts will
present Duo Diorama – Minghuan Xu, violin, and Winston Choi, piano – in a concert featuring works by Béla Bartók, Alfred Schnittke, Dmitri Shostakovich, John Corigliano, Augusta Read Thomas, and Robert Pollock. The site of these concerts is the St. Michael All Angels Episcopal Church, 4364 Hardy Street in Lihue, Kauai. A pre-concert discussion will occur at 6PM.

Just before the lockdown, Ebb & Flow Arts was to present Duo Diorama on Kauai. Unfortunately E&FA had to cancel the concert because of the pandemic.. Thanks to a grant from the Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, E&FA will be able to pick up where we left up with this June 1st concert.

“Choi is an intellectual when it comes to music,”said Conductor Victor Yampolsky. “It manifests itself in his handling of musical forms and composers’ styles and wishes. Xu is spontaneous, rhapsodic, and romantic. Together, it is a wonderful dynamic.”

This event is part of E&FA’s annual, multi day, multi site, international NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST FESTIVAL 2024. Ebb & Flow Arts, Inc. (E&FA) is a non profit presenter of modern music and multi media events. It is the only such presenter in Hawai’i, and was founded in 1999, by composer/pianist Robert Pollock.
