1st Annual Garden Island Compost Forum

Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 at 6:30 pm8:30 pm

Free
Join us for the First Annual Garden Island Compost Forum, where we’ll learn how to compost at home, explore island-wide solutions, and connect with local experts shaping a more sustainable future. ♻️💚
A free virtual community event.
🌱 What if Kaua‘i’s waste could feed our island instead of our landfill?
Composting is one of the simplest — and most powerful — ways we can turn food scraps into a local resource. It builds soil, supports farmers, and helps keep methane-producing organics out of our already overflowing Kekaha Landfill.
Hear from local experts including: Councilmember Fern Anuenue HollandJesse Brown-Clay (Compost Kauaʻi), Sari Pastore (Understory Alliance) and Andy Boyd (County of Kauaʻi Recycling Coordinator). The event will feature short presentations, Q&A, and open discussion.
Learn About:
– Why composting is so important
– How to start and maintain compost at home
– Community-scale composting solutions (including pick-up & drop-off services)
– Responsible green waste management to prevent the spread of coconut rhinoceros beetle (CRB)
– County resources, free bin programs & more
