SUMMARY:Introduction to Jam Class
DESCRIPTION:Each Spring we host an Introduction to Jam-Making Class. We use fresh strawberries as our medium since they make such a nice\, bright preserve. All areas of home canning safety will be covered along with the jam-making process from washing and hulling to testing for doneness to jarring and storing. This is a hands-on class and at the end\, everyone will depart with 2 jars of freshly made Strawberry Jam. Please note that we pride ourselves in making and teaching no pectin-added\, low-sugar preserving. this style of jam-making is both science and art-based. We hope you enjoy the process and outcome as much as we do! \nAletha Thomas\, the founder of both Monkeypod Jam and Cooking Kauai\, teaches this introductory class. Her 15+ years of experience in both home and commercial preservation make her one of Hawaii’s top authorities. \nAge Requirement: Ages 16+ \nLocation: The Cooking Kauai\, Provisions Kitchen in Lawai. DESCRIPTION:This event is a fundraiser for Kauai Concert Association and Kauai Pride. \n  \nJoin Kauai’s own Jason Blake in an evening of songs\, stories and friends as we prepare for Pride month. \n  \nA live band consisting of: \nRose Alfiler\, Piano \nRon Margolis\, Drums \nPaul Koulbanis\, Guitar \nMike Latif\, Bass \nKaycee Milne\, Violin \nBarry Toy\, Trumpet \nVoice teacher Dolly Kanekuni and James Norman from The Quake will also be guest vocalists. \n  \nJason will sing both favorite songs you’ll sing along to along with a few songs you’ve never heard. He’ll sing duets with both a female and male guest and share funny and touching stories from his life and coming out.  Genres will range from pop to country to Broadway! \n  \nThe band will be paid as professionals but all singers are donating their talents for this cause. \n  \nAll profits will be equally divided between Kauai Concert Association and Kauai Pride. \n  \nOne night only and you don’t want to miss this once in a decade event!
