DESCRIPTION:It’s time to stock up your pantry with flavorful\, homemade pickles! We will roll up our sleeves and practice the fundamentals of fermentation. Under-ripe Starfruit? You can pickle that. A glut of garden vegetables\, pickle them! Maybe you were wooed by the adorable\, mini quail eggs at the farmers market and now don’t know what to do with them… brine ’em up for a delicious\, protein-packed snack! \n  \nHopeful Menu (if Mother Nature cooperates) \n\nHawaii-style Pickled Mango\nQuick Pickle Red Onions\nCanned Dilly Beans\nTacoria-style Pickled Vegetables (escabeche)\nSpicy Shoyu Pickled Quail Eggs\n\n  \nAletha Thomas\, the founder of both Monkeypod Jam and Cooking Kauai\, teaches this introductory class. Her 15+ years of experience in both home and commercial preservation make her one of Hawaii’s top authorities. \nAge Requirement: Ages 16+ \nLocation: The Cooking Kauai\, Provisions Kitchen in Lawai. DESCRIPTION:This event is a fundraiser for Kauai Concert Association and Kauai Pride. \n  \nJoin Kauai’s own Jason Blake in an evening of songs\, stories and friends as we prepare for Pride month. \n  \nA live band consisting of: \nRose Alfiler\, Piano \nRon Margolis\, Drums \nPaul Koulbanis\, Guitar \nMike Latif\, Bass \nKaycee Milne\, Violin \nBarry Toy\, Trumpet \nVoice teacher Dolly Kanekuni and James Norman from The Quake will also be guest vocalists. \n  \nJason will sing both favorite songs you’ll sing along to along with a few songs you’ve never heard. He’ll sing duets with both a female and male guest and share funny and touching stories from his life and coming out.  Genres will range from pop to country to Broadway! \n  \nThe band will be paid as professionals but all singers are donating their talents for this cause. \n  \nAll profits will be equally divided between Kauai Concert Association and Kauai Pride. \n  \nOne night only and you don’t want to miss this once in a decade event!
