SUMMARY:Benefit Online Concert with Grandmaster Riley Lee Sept. 7
DESCRIPTION:Grandmaster Riley Lee\, world-renowned shakuhachi master\, will perform an online one-hour  \nBenefit concert for Lawai International Center at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday\, September 7. Grandmaster Lee shares the magic and power of Lawai\, a place that calms the spirit and stills the mind.  \nThere is a minimum $25 donation for the live zoom performance that includes a video recording of the concert. To register call (808) 639-5952 or visit www.lawaicenter.org. \nAs the first non-Japanese to have achieved the rank of grandmaster\, he mastered the ancient Japanese ceremonial flute that dates back to the 7th century. Lee attained the title of grandmaster over 45 years ago with rigorous training that included practicing barefoot in the snow and playing his flute under a waterfall. \nAll proceeds benefit the nonprofit 501c3 Lawai International Center. The mission of the Lawai International Center is to preserve and nurture the land and its rich cultural heritage by extending a heartfelt invitation to all who wish to experience its essence through the spirit of compassion and aloha. For 20 years\, during the Pilgrimage of Compassion at the Lawai Center Grandmaster Lee led the procession. When he plays his shakuhachi at Lawai\, he sets in motion the forces of earth and air\, people and place\, and the swirling power of the ha.
