DESCRIPTION:Join the Kaua’i Humane Society for Tails on Trails: Earth Day Edition on Thursday\, April 17th\, from 9 AM – 1 PM! \nThis group-guided field trip takes you on the 2-mile Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail with a shelter dog lead\, guided by KHS staff. Up to four groups (max 6 people per group\, $125 donation per group) will help keep Kaua’i beautiful by picking up trash while learning about the island’s flora and fauna with our staff guides and shelter dog lead. \n$125 per group includes snacks\, lunch\, and a KHS gift bag\, and a fun outing with a shelter dog!

DESCRIPTION:The Princeville Moʻolelo free lecture series will continue on Tuesday\, April 15th as Uncle Gary Smith returns to share the history of Nihokū & Mōkōlea Point. Gary was part of a hui of community advocates who worked tirelessly to protect these important sites from development\, and we are so pleased that he is sharing this knowledge and his experience with us. Together\, they are presenting free informative “talk story” events monthly in the Princeville Community Center to share the work and stories of conservation partners\, Hawaiian cultural practitioners and more. \nAbout Friends of Kauaʻi Wildlife Refuges: Kīlauea Point Natural History Association\, now doing business as “Friends of Kauaʻi Wildlife Refuges\,” serves as a 501(c)(3) non-profit Friends Group that supports the wildlife conservation\, education\, and historic preservation work of the Kauaʻi National Wildlife Refuge Complex\, which includes Kīlauea Point\, Hanalei and Hulēʻia NWRs.  With donations\, plus proceeds from Nature Store operations\, the organization supports visitor education\, provides rehabilitative care for sick or injured native Hawaiian birds\, volunteer training\, special events\, equipment for wildlife habitat maintenance and restoration\, free bussing for school field trips to a refuge\, awards annual scholarships for college students pursuing environmental studies and more.
