SUMMARY:Na Mamo Kaiaulu
DESCRIPTION:Nā Mamo Kaiāulu is a community gathering that celebrates the capacity and relevance of traditional Hawaiian healing and cultural practice in today’s world. Taking place on Saturday\, September 6\, 2025\, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the Kauaʻi War Memorial Convention Hall\, this free\, all-ages event brings together some of Kauaʻi’s most respected kumu and cultural practitioners to share ʻike\, guide healing practices\, and nurture community well-being. \nThis year’s featured workshops include lāʻau lapaʻau (plant-based medicine) with Kumu Ginger Saiki\, lomilomi (traditional massage and bodywork) with Aunty Maco Waialeale and Aunty Gwen Cardejon\, makau (fishhook making) with Kumu Gordon Umi Kai\, and hoʻoponopono (conflict resolution and spiritual alignment) with Kumu Sean Chun. These instructors bring decades of lived experience and lineal knowledge in their practices\, affirming the legitimacy and depth of Hawaiian healing. \nParticipants will also enjoy cultural demonstrations like kapa\, lei hulu\, ulana\, Hawaiian games\, and kuʻi ʻai.  Resource tables from community organizations and local vendors will be on-site\, along with keiki-friendly activities\, food booths featuring laulau and kalua pig\, a Silent Auction and Country Store featuring baked goods\, native plants\, herbal salves and other locally-made items! \nTwo local films exploring -Ai-Responsibilities and Privileges of Eating and Kapu- Sacred Relationships between Land & People- will be screened during the middle of the day\, offering another layer of cultural insight. \nWorkshops are limited so please sign up via the flyer’s QR code.-Join us!
