Providing functional, intuitive, and practical cooking education to children using all local Hawaiian sourced ingredients, Amanda Smith’s vision for a healthy Hawaii community involves a strong commitment to elimination of harmful eating habits such as excessive processed/fast food, providing education, skills, and opportunities to create recipes from locally sourced ingredients. Amanda will be sharing a favorite recipe, Menehune Chef Poi smoothie, her experiences as a TV host, Chef, food writer, and her vision for the future generation of Keiki and families. She will be discussing the importance of mindful eating. Why local ingredients are beneficial for your health, and how food has saved her life. Come and join Amanda Smith as she shares the benefits of eating sustainable farmers market finds in everyday recipes, her Menehune Chef program for kids and families, and a fun take home vegan recipe you can enjoy any time of day. 

Amanda Smith — started her journey in health education 13 years ago majoring in Early Childhood education. She has over a decade of expertise working for three different non- profit organizations and educating the Kauai community on current health curricula, Life skills, positive action, mother daughter circles, and youth camps. Amanda is passionate about increasing Community awareness about nutrition and health. She currently is spreading her vision of healthy cooking to all Hawaiian Islands though Television, community events, partnering with other local non-profits, and local chefs. Menehune Chef believes in building a thriving community by positively educating children and families to make and create wiser food choices by using locally grown ingredients.
