Lecture-Moʻolelo; Demo-Ancient & Hula; Painting Workshop

Maika`i Kaua`i Hemolele I Ka Mālie” is an ancient saying that celebrates the incomparable beauty, peace and excellence of Kauai Island. It appears in mele inoa or name chants honoring Kauai’s paramount King Kaumuali’i.

Utilizing the gifts left to us by prominent Haku Mele or Hawaiian poets & composers, Kumu Kēhaulani will expand upon the significance of Hula & Hawaiian oral traditions as a means of deepening our appreciation for the vision of Kauai past, present & future.

The presentation will also offer inspiration for Kauaʻi schools to create Hoʻokupu Banners for the dedication of Kaumualiʻi’s bronze statue at his ancestral home, Pāʻulaʻula in Waimea later this year.
