Hula Concert Hoike by Leilani Rivera Low, Halau Hula o Leilani with the Makaha Sons

Kumu hula and recording artist Leilani Rivera Low presents 26th annual hula hoike (show) by Halau Hula o Leilani of Kauai and Reno, NV, and concert with the Makaha Sons–Jerome Koko, Kimo Artis, and Mark Yim. Keiki to adults dance hula kahiko, hula auana, Tahitian, Maori, and Tongan dances with talented musicians. dynamic drummers and beautiful costumes. Hawaiian and Polynesian arts, crafts, jewelry, fashions for sale in the courtyard from 4:00 pm. Doors to Grand Ballroom open at 6:00; show and concert start at 6:30. Get advance tickets at local outlets and from halau members: $30 adults, $10 ages 14 to 4 years, under 4 years free. Ticket prices higher at the door. Leilani has been teaching hula and Tahitian dance for 36 years, starting in Kapaa and also in Koloa. For 20+ years, she has taught in Reno, NV, and gives workshops and concerts in Japan. Her daughters Kamalani Montanana and Ariel Bond also teach hula and Tahitian. Kulani Jeremiah of Honolulu teaches Maori songs, haka and dances.

The Makaha Sons have performed their unique Hawaiian harmonies for over 35 years. Now led by Jerome Koko, the group includes Kimo Artis and Mark Yim, well-known vocalists and slack key guitar players. They share their music worldwide and perform with Leilani’s halau in Reno annually. It’s a privilege to have them on Kauai frequently.
